Health Fair 2019

This year’s theme: Happy and healthy starts with you!

 

We have a lot packed into the day. No. 1 on your list should be a visit to the health screenings and getting a free flu vaccine.  You will need to sign up ahead of time for the health screenings.  Operations staff can sign up by letting their supervisors know that they want an appointment.  Non-operations staff can sign up on Eventbrite 

 

And when’s the last time you rolled around in a human hamster ball or got your body moving with a Zumba class? Scaled a climbing wall? We’re also hosting a fitness challenge at the gym, where you can see how many sit-ups and push-ups you can do. One of our most popular health fair activities will be back: chair massages to relieve stress and soothe achy muscles. We’ll be offering ear acupuncture, which is used to treat stress and insomnia, and can relieve pain and help kick the smoking habit.  This year we will have a cooking demonstration, too.

 

As always, we’ll offer a tasty and healthy barbeque lunch (vegetarian option available) and Jamba Juice smoothies. And more than a dozen vendors will be on hand giving you tips and information on how to keep fit and healthy.

 

If the activities described above aren’t enough to entice you to the Health Fair, perhaps raffle prizes will close the deal. To enter the raffle, participants need to visit at least 15 vendors or simply get a health screening. Just for showing up you’ll get a branded Public Works backpack!

 

We’re also going to make it easy for our staff in the Civic Center area by running shuttles between our 30 Van Ness Ave. office building and the Yard at regular intervals. Details regarding the shuttle schedule will be sent out in a later email, so be on the lookout for it.  

 

One of our paramount goals at Public Works is for every one of our employees to leave work as healthy as or healthier than when their shift began. We need you to be strong and healthy to deliver the services and projects that the people of San Francisco have come to rely upon. We also want you to be strong and healthy for your families.
